OK, let’s get this party started. The New Year is already filled with drama, odd news and intrigue. Naturally we have a lot to say about it: J.R. is pretty excited about things, to put it mildly.
The left is having fits about Obamacare. Mo is unimpressed.
It was reported that a Rockette cried through a 90-minute performance over her “trauma” at the idea she’d have to perform at Trump’s inauguration.
Chicago had the deadliest year in nearly two decades in 2016 under Rahm Emanuel's, uhh, leadership.
The New Yorker published a cartoon that struck a huge nerve, with an illustration of an angry mob on an airplane rejecting the “smug” pilot. It hit right in the heart of the recent anger at elites, and Twitter exploded into the usual outrage from all sides.
In one of the most explosive stories in recent memory, an 18-year-old special needs young man was kidnapped, bound, gagged and tortured by four attackers. Twitter was on fire, of course, but one especially revolting reaction made the rounds: conservatives scolding other conservatives, admonishing them to “calm down” and “wait for the facts” - perhaps forgetting that the brutal torture was streamed live on Facebook. The fear apparently was that too much outrage would only encourage the Alt-Right. The Misfits were having none of that.
San Francisco resident and nutty liberal Melinda Byerley published a smug, condescending, and inadvertently hilarious screed giving advice to middle America. She oh-so-gently reminded them that “no educated person wants to live in a shithole with stupid people.” It got much, much worse. Hilarity ensued.
As always, we have lots of thoughts and ideas that defy easy categorization.
