Rebecca de Winter
Another week has flown by and boy was it a doozy! Welcome to the latest edition of the #MisfitMemo Weekly Rewind, where we round up all of our best tweets and blog posts from the week to share with you, dear reader.

We had several terrific blog posts this week, including lots from our favorite guest contributors, so be sure to scroll down and check them out. Don’t forget to follow us at @MisfitsPolitics to keep up with all the latest.

This is the very first edition since President Donald Trump was inaugurated, just days ago. To say it has been a crazy week is putting it mildly, and we had a lot to say about it. So let’s get this party started!

Obama was quite busy his last few days in office, and he raised eyebrows and a lot of ire by commuting the sentences of Bradley “Chelsea” Manning and FALN member Oscar López Rivera.

Rivera and FALN planted over 130 bombs across US cities, killing and maiming people. So, yeah, let's fete him as a f--king hero. https://t.co/9b2SPAMrbO

— Mo Mo (@molratty) January 18, 2017

Repub VP-elect Pence booed & lectured at Hamilton.

Terrorist Lopez-Rivera will be serenaded by Miranda in special return to title role. https://t.co/yOPgQV82E3

— MisfitPolitics (@MisfitsPolitics) January 18, 2017
Betsy DeVos, Trump’s pick for education secretary, faced a contentious confirmation hearing and has endured a lot of wrath from the left.

Has any organization, public or private, failed in its stated mission more than the US Dept of Ed?

But sure, these new ideas are dangerous!

— Alex F. Baldwin? (@VerumVulnero1) January 18, 2017

Inner city public schools are the most segregated in the country. It's pretty clear who is on the Bd of Ed's side here. https://t.co/ls6Rr0g5oo

— Mo Mo (@molratty) January 18, 2017

You have to be either mentally deficient or woefully ignorant of who school choice disproportionately benefits to make such statements. https://t.co/XLIVDc0w7x

— Kayla (@VixenRogue) January 18, 2017

Progressives love to pay lip service to governing by "what works." Their unbending fealty to public schools proves they're lying.

— Mo Mo (@molratty) January 18, 2017
Sally Kohn did not take the exit of Obama well.

I'm just gonna post pictures of President Obama for the next 24 hours to cheer myself up. https://t.co/CsI02RGUxh

— Sally Kohn (@sallykohn) January 19, 2017

That's called a creepy shrine and it's what stalkers do. https://t.co/r4qacZHoA5

— Rebecca de Winter ? (@BlazerMc88) January 19, 2017
New York Magazine writer Jonathan Chait let the mask slip, and what we all saw was downright ugly.

Amazing thing about Trump's Latino-free cabinet: how easy it would be to get a token. He has NO standards. Why couldn't he find a warm body?

— Jonathan Chait (@jonathanchait) January 19, 2017

This is how the Democrats do things. "Just find a warm body Latino". https://t.co/LYKc0ZhAuR

— Dan ? (@danieltobin) January 19, 2017

Democrats are in such a meltdown they aren't even hiding their disdain for minorities. https://t.co/vOCOC7KkXg

— MisfitPolitics (@MisfitsPolitics) January 19, 2017

Because getting "a token" isn't condescending or disingenuous at all. Those are your standards? I'll pass on the soft bigotry. https://t.co/uqT04NNCX2

— J.R. Holmsted ? (@JHolmsted) January 19, 2017

Democrats go public with what they actually think of minority appointments. pic.twitter.com/oY2d1BCjPV

— Dan ? (@danieltobin) January 19, 2017
Following a bloody, savage campaign season and election we thought would never end, it finally happened: INAUGURATION DAY!!! It went off without a hitch, except for the, you know, VIOLENT RIOTS...

CNN worried about Obama's psyche at the moment at this emotional moment that is unimaginable to go through. Good grief.

— J.R. Holmsted ? (@JHolmsted) January 20, 2017

I'm happy Obama is gone.
I'm happy Hillary didn't win.
Trump: Don't f--k up.

— Mo Mo (@molratty) January 20, 2017

Did anyone try to reason with the rioters yet? You know, reach across the aisle?

— Dan ? (@danieltobin) January 20, 2017

Guys, guys...IT'S NOT HILLARY! pic.twitter.com/baX8V5dv1M

— Rebecca de Winter ? (@BlazerMc88) January 21, 2017

When Trump promised that he'd never let us down, did anyone else hope he'd break into the Rick Astley song?#Inauguration

— Andrew Lynch □ (@GentlemanRascal) January 20, 2017

Is there a more fitting image of Trump than aggressively singing along to Three Doors Down covering Smashmouth?

— Alex F. Baldwin? (@VerumVulnero1) January 20, 2017

Has NBC news always broadcast
>exact route of #PEOTUS
>wind direction
>tall buildings along route
>roads out of DC?#TrumpInauguration

— Marc Logic ? (@marcannem96) January 20, 2017

— Mo Mo (@molratty) January 20, 2017

Maybe it's just me, but I always enjoy seeing current and former presidents in each other's company chatting and smiling.

— J.R. Holmsted ? (@JHolmsted) January 20, 2017
Several vile, disgusting adults-who-should-know-better in the media mocked 10-year-old Barron Trump. So much for "hands off" the children of presidents, eh?

Harping on the minor children of presidents is obnoxious at best and despicable at worst. Just cut that shit out.

— J.R. Holmsted ? (@JHolmsted) January 21, 2017

Even the Satanist protesters are like "holy shit lay off the 10 year old, SNL writers."

— CDP ? (@cdpayne79) January 21, 2017

I'm old enough to remember when POTUS' children were 'off limits.'

— LunaticRex□ (@LunaticRex) January 21, 2017
There was a Women's March held the Saturday after the inauguration. Haven't really figured out what it was all about, but it involved a lot of pu--y hats and anger.

Organize a march to protest the barbaric, medieval treatment of women in Islamic countries and I'll be there. #WomensMarch

— Kayla (@VixenRogue) January 21, 2017

I'm a woman who has been offending by Trump. Proving my womanhood by writing on a maxi pad? No thanks.

— CC Hayes ? (@_CCHayes) January 22, 2017

This past 24 hrs might be the biggest haul of meme worthy pictures in one single day.#WomensMarch #Inauguration

— Marc Logic ? (@marcannem96) January 21, 2017

What better way to prove your brain is your lady parts than to wear a lady parts hat?

— Mo Mo (@molratty) January 21, 2017

What do we want? Equality for women! When do we want it? Oddly enough the day after 8 years of hope & change!

— CDP □ (@cdpayne79) January 21, 2017

"I realize that this joke is gold and want to use it, but if a man does it he must be a misogynist and ignorant about menstration." https://t.co/xZlfkxzhgc

— M. Raymer □ (@miscRaymer) January 21, 2017

Thanks for not including women like me. #YesAllWomen unless you're pro-life! #WomensMarch https://t.co/uLTdmIEZt6

— J.R. Holmsted □ (@JHolmsted) January 21, 2017
Miscellaneous Misfit Musings:

I wonder if "My SECDEF can kick your Mullah's ass" shirts are on sale yet? @dave_usmc @KurtSchlichter #Caring

— Gringo Suave ? (@2009superglide) January 18, 2017

Well that's the wigwam calling the teepee red ocher. https://t.co/r4F9qyKvDD

— CDP ? (@cdpayne79) January 19, 2017

I look forward to Gen Mattis leading the entire Pentagon in PT each A.M. before sun up. I hope D.C. has sufficient clean up crews. #caring

— LunaticRex? (@LunaticRex) January 22, 2017

60% approval isn't what we saw in November. https://t.co/EApwvJs0uV

— Dan ? (@danieltobin) January 18, 2017

Mark Ruffalo is rapidly overtaking George Takei in "the most irritating celebrity on Twitter" contest.

— Rebecca de Winter □ (@BlazerMc88) January 18, 2017

Holy shit. It just occurred to me that I remember when "Sweet Home Alabama" was a new song. Do they still make Geritol?

— LunaticRex□ (@LunaticRex) January 16, 2017

Is America Great Again yet?

— Alex F. Baldwin? (@VerumVulnero1) January 20, 2017

Heh. pic.twitter.com/gNslkyvuCX

"Secretary of Defense Mattis" has a nice ring to it don't you think? @SenGillibrand @womensmarch

— Gringo Suave □ (@2009superglide) January 21, 2017

The Rockettes are overrated. #MisfitMischief #confessyourunpopularopinion

Yeah, we hardly heard a peep out of him for the last couple weeks. https://t.co/dIZatPTzbY
