There is a story told about Davy Crockett from the years before he became a household name by dying while defending Texas at the Alamo (and long before Fess Parker wore that silly hat for a TV show). The apocryphal tale is from the years Crockett served as a member of the United States House of Representatives from Tennessee, an interrupted three-term tenure during which he served two districts and which ended the year before his death in San Antonio.

Whether or not the story is true matters not a whit. The truth of the message is the important thing. Fables are rooted in truth, and if one reads the Constitution with an honest eye, this fable conveys the truth. And it serves as a lesson to us all. Pretty effective fable in my view.

If one does not understand the Constitution or refuses to admit its plain language means what it means, one is a leftist. And Chelsea Manning, an actual traitor, is clearly a leftist. He thinks we should be happy that we paid a mere 600 dollars to help him change his sex while he was in prison for treason. NOTE: I doubt that figure. It was likely much higher. In any case, there was a lot more stress and strain on the troops dealing with Manning than was necessary.

Chelsea is desperate for attention. If you’d like to give him some, that thread is pretty stupid all the way through. He’s really not bright. If I were offendable, it might offend me that he’s referred to as an intel guy. Or as an American for that matter.

I do not agree with the Master Chief that Manning sending a check for USD $600 to the Treasury would satisfy his debt to the nation. Every minute he gets to spend outside a federal prison is an affront to every American. But even pretending to pay us all back for the government indulging his silly fantasy would be a start. Any guesses how much money Chelsea might send to the Treasury Department to square his financial debt to us?

Chelsea Manning is a traitor. I do not toss that word around lightly: He was convicted of several acts of espionage among other federal crimes. He also stood accused of aiding the enemy, but was not convicted on that. He can never pay me (or you) back for selling our country out.

And Barack Obama commuted his sentence on 17 January 2017, three days before leaving office.

“She was sentenced to serve a 35-year sentence at the maximum-security U.S. Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth.[32] On January 17, 2017, President Barack Obama commuted Manning's sentence to nearly seven years of confinement dating from the date of arrest (May 27, 2010) by military authorities.”

I was never an Obama supporter, but this was beyond the pale. This was Obama acknowledging what many people thought about him. And his supporters (including most of the media) never even talk about this commutation. Seems odd doesn’t it? I mean, they proclaim themselves the defenders of the truth, the bringers of light to a dim public.

I say all that mainly to say this: Chelsea Manning belongs in Leavenworth until the end of the 35-year term he was sentenced to. Be that as it may, his sentence was commuted by the worst POTUS since FDR. Maybe the worst POTUS ever.
