Hating Mitt Romney: An American Pastime

Nobody triggers the left and the right like Mitt Romney. Romney, the twice-failed presidential candidate, has your number. All he has to do is show up. The man can do no right. Hating Mitt Romney is the glue that holds the country together. The lefties pretended to like Romney when they thought he was useful. The right never liked him. He was robotic and boring, and also, a Mormon. Not to mention he was globalist something or other. I like him though. Romney was the most decent man to run for president in recent history.

Say what you want, but Romney was right about just about everything. If you want to witness an epic smackdown in politics, watch the first Presidential debate of 2012. Obama faltered as Mitt landed punch after punch. No one had seen the democratic champion so bewildered. He was left speechless, an empty shell exposed for all to see. Not only did Romney hit Obama where it counted then, he laid out what the future would look like with four more years of Obama leadership. And he was right. He walked off that stage like a boss. He won that debate, and he showed a weakness in Obama that no one had ever seen. Even the Obama cult was stunned. Damage control: Al Gore suggested the altitude affected Obama's performance. Jon Stewart had to run defense on the Daily Show. It was a victory.

But he lost where he counted, that much is true. He played it safer in the next two debates and it hurt. And we all know the smears by the press.

Still, I'll never forget the day Obama took a beating in that debate. My God, it was glorious. Just like I'll never forget Mitt speaking against Trump and for American values, something he never had to do. He doesn't have to do any of it. The guy loves his country, at least enough to deal with the public humiliation from both sides. I can't imagine any reason to voluntarily deal with it. I hear of Romney running for something and all I can think of is “why do that to yourself?” I don't think he can help it.

Both sides hate him, though. The left hates him. Like everything, they had a particular use for him. But he's back now, running for Senate so he's a problem. In the face of what they've called the worst president/dictator/authoritarian you would think they'd want a levelheaded individual, but binders of women and all that. As for the right, they didn't like him in 2012. They don't like him now. And there's no forgiveness for criticizing the God-King of the cultists. Things are what they are. But wow, that debate in 2012. Good stuff.

I agree with you in everything you've said about Romney. The country lost when the media defended Obama and the GOP shunned a Mormon.

Should Romney run for Hatch's seat in Utah, the only question will be how large his margin of victory will be. Folks here love him.
