"When they go low, we go high." – Michelle Obama
I've had some degrading and disgusting things said and yelled at me in this town by random strangers and people who don't know me because of my race, sexuality, my attire, or other things. Going up to someone you don't even know (like the couple that went up to Ivanka Trump) and giving them your negative or degrading thoughts may be a First Amendment right, but it makes you a sad, pathetic, and probably deranged individual. There is a time and a place to rant about political discourse. A JetBlue flight was not that place. It never ceases to amaze me when I hear about champions and advocates for equality treating people as less than equal because they don't fit into their financial, racial, aesthetic, or in Ivanka's case, political spectrum. Racist Target Lady, Drunk Douche on the Plane, and Susan Olsen are sad, pathetic, deranged individuals. But so are the man and his husband who verbally attacked a woman sitting with her husband and children on a flight simply because they do not like her father. Two Wrongs =/= Right. And going high isn't just for flying with JetBlue or when your candidate wins. It's something that should be applicable to your everyday existence, whether you win or lose.
